Alkali Collective is a contemporary music organization based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Through concerts, commissions, educational initiatives, and community partnerships, we support artists, foster creative exchange, and connect our communities with contemporary artistic practice.
Join Our Board of Directors
Alkali Collective is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to serve on our Board of Directors. Board members play an important role in the stewardship and governance of Alkali Collective and work collaboratively to:
• Guide the future of the organization
• Support long-term sustainability and growth
• Contribute skills, expertise, and perspective
• Serve on committees and working groups related to their interests and experience
• Help ensure Alkali Collective remains true to its mission and mandate
How You Can Contribute
We’re interested in hearing from people with a wide range of skills, experiences, and perspectives. Prospective board members may bring expertise in areas such as:
• Fundraising & Sponsorship
• Marketing & Communications
• Governance, Policy, & Strategic Planning
• Finance & Accounting
• Legal & Contracts
• Web Development
• Community Outreach
• Event Planning
Previous board experience is not required, and neither is a background in music or the arts.
Alkali Collective is committed to building a board that reflects the diversity of our community. We welcome individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and lived experiences and encourage expressions of interest from people working across a variety of professions, sectors, and areas of expertise.
Commitment
• Term: Two years
• Meetings: Approximately one per month
• Time Commitment: Typically 2-8 hours per month, including meetings and occasional committee work

Board elections will take place at our Annual General Meeting in September 2026. We’re beginning conversations with prospective board members now and would be happy to speak with anyone interested in learning more about the organization, the role, or the election process.
