ROGUE

MAY 17, 2025 · Peggy Corkum Music Room · Halifax, Nova Scotia

ROGUE concluded Alkali Collective’s fifth season with a program that embraced the unexpected. Featuring works by Kati Agócs, Tim Brady, Missy Mazzoli, Gabriella Smith, Andrew Staniland, and Hsiu-Ping Patrick Wu, the concert brought together six distinctive approaches to contemporary chamber music, ranging from driving rhythmic material to rich and unconventional sonic textures.

True to its title, ROGUE expanded the ensemble’s sonic palette through unfamiliar sounds, instrumental combinations, and musical approaches that pushed beyond the conventions of traditional chamber music. The program reflected Alkali Collective’s ongoing interest in adventurous contemporary repertoire and artistic risk-taking, closing Season Five with music designed to provoke, surprise, and challenge expectations.
